Insulin Resistance and Insulin Sensitivity are refer to how efficiently your body responds to insulin when it’s released.

When someone is insulin resistant, their body is not responding to the effects of insulin as well as it should.  As a result, the pancreas has to release more and more insulin in order to achieve the same desired effects.

Over time, this can really wear down your pancreas and create further problems.  Eventually, type 1 and 2 diabetes is usually the end result.

When you have good insulin sensitivity, the body is far more likely to shuttle the glucose that you are consuming to the lean muscle tissues rather than the body fat cells.

 

 

 

Insulin resistance couple with obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol is referred to as metabolic syndrome and this puts you at a much higher risk for developing heart disease, stroke, as well as diabetes.
